Witchery in August
Hello lovely,
August is almost to an end and instead of a break from everything (that I was expecting), I ended up with a whole laundry load of stuff to deal with. But even in the midst of the chaos, I fully leaned into my magic and embraced the divine feminine. In the past, the chaos around me would have been a major source of stress, but this time I managed to stay calm and centered throughout. I even managed moments of witchery.
We’re just past my birthday, and I am so grateful for all the thoughtful messages and gifts. One such gift was a mortar and pestle from a friend’s witchy shop. I’ve been creating all sorts of incense blends, powders for offerings to the ancestors, and handcrafted oils.
Also, my son has been helping me powder all our saved eggshells, which we then sprinkle around the roses. Witch tip: I keep a jar of powdered eggshells for protection too.
In addition to working with plants and making potions, I’ve been keeping up with my divination practice. Tea leaf readings, scrying in a black mirror, rune stone readings, and my ever-faithful method of reading tarot have helped connect me to my spiritual side even when life was full of unpleasant stuff I had to deal with.
I’m really enjoying this new deck that was a birthday gift. It’s called Stella’s Tarot and is an interesting blend of Rider-Waite-Smith and Thoth tarot. The cards are playing card size which I absolutely love! It’s a deck I can easily fit into a purse or pocket to carry with me wherever I go.
As a bonus, there isn’t a card in this deck I don’t like — and that is rare for me! I have so many decks that are absolutely gorgeous, but usually there are a few that I wish had been depicted differently — not so with this deck! It does follow the Thoth deck in that Strength (called Miracle in this deck) and Justice are switched around, and I prefer the Rider-Waite-Smith numbered order, but that’s just a minor thing. Temperance is named Temperance in this deck in keeping with Rider-Waite-Smith instead of Art as would be the case in a Thoth deck, and I’d say the majority of the cards follow Rider-Waite-Smith imagery. The court cards are Thoth influenced — Princess, Prince, Queen, Knight.
In addition to getting to know this new tarot deck, I’ve been doing rune readings for some of you! If you’d like to book one (or a tarot reading) just send me an email at caitgemmell@gmail.com to book.
I’m still sharing tarot readings for the collective every once in a while through Wild Rose Witchery chat. If you haven’t checked that out, this is an open invitation to do so. There’s no cost to join but you do have to have (a free) subscription to Wild Rose Witchery. If you are reading this, you are likely subscribed.
I still offer group Reiki healing every Sunday as well. If you’d like to be included, just reply to this or email me directly and I’ll add your name to the list.
Now that I’ve shared what I’ve been up to, what have you been up to? What magical things are happening in your life? I’d love to hear about it, so leave a comment or send me an email reply.
Be well friends!
Lots of love,
Cinders
